(Guide - AI vs. Traditional Production)

AI vs. Classic.
Production.

What actually changes when a film is generated instead of shot - and where a camera still wins. Written by a studio that has produced 22 AI films since 2021.

(01 - Short answer)

The honest summary

AI video production is faster and cheaper because the cost blocks of a shoot - crew, cast, locations, travel, set building - disappear, and because scenes can be re-generated instead of re-shot. It is not better at everything: exact product replication, real spokespeople and documentary truth still favour a camera. The strongest productions combine both.

(02 - Time)

Days instead of months

A classic brand film takes weeks of pre-production (casting, locations, permits), a shoot day or more, and weeks of post. An AI film needs concept and storyboard, then generation and grading - typically days for a 60-second film. Changes after delivery are new renders, not new shoot days.

(03 - Cost)

What drives the price

Traditional: crew size, talent fees, locations, equipment, travel, insurance, post-production. AI: length, number of distinct scenes, character and product consistency requirements, language versions, revision rounds. The AI budget is dominated by human direction and grading time, not by logistics.

(04 - Limits)

Where the camera still wins

  • Exact product replicas - fine logos, screens, jewellery: combine real product shots with generated scenes.
  • Real people - founders, spokespeople, customers: film them, generate the world around them.
  • Documentary truth - events, testimonials, news: keep it real and label AI scenes.
  • Physics and hands - complex interactions still need review; we generate variants and pick the ones that hold up.
(05 - Rights)

Who owns what

You receive the delivered master files with full usage rights, as with a classic production. We use tools whose terms allow commercial use, keep prompts and source references on file, and label AI-generated scenes where a platform or regulator requires it.

Questions

(FAQ)

Usually yes, often by a large margin, because crew, cast, locations and travel are not needed. The exact difference depends on the brief; a fixed quote makes it comparable.

For brand films, campaigns and social content: yes, at cinema-grade resolution, when humans direct and grade. For exact product macro shots and real spokespeople, a hybrid approach is better.

Some platforms and regulators require labelling of AI-generated or synthetic content. We label where required and advise per channel.
